This product is extracted and purified from cattle achilles tendon using enzymatic digestion under mild, low-temperature conditions, which helps preserve the natural structure and bioactivity of collagen. At higher concentrations (typically 5–10 mg/mL), the material can undergo self-assembly into a hydrogel at neutral pH and room temperature, forming a three-dimensional matrix suitable for cell culture and biofabrication. Due to these properties, bovine Type I collagen is commonly used in bioinks for 3D bioprinting, cell encapsulation, and tissue engineering applications, providing a supportive microenvironment that promotes cell adhesion, proliferation, and growth.
